UNUSUAL DISCOVERY: A SQUIRREL MADE OF VEGETABLES APPEARED OVERNIGHT IN A LOCAL PARK
Arad, March 18, 2025 – A culinary-artistic surprise enlivened the quiet atmosphere of Arad’s Central Park this morning. The city woke up to a note of amusement and mystery after passersby discovered a considerably sized squirrel, ingeniously sculpted from various vegetables and fruits, in the playground area.
The ephemeral work of art, approximately one meter tall, was composed of a robust pumpkin body, a bushy tail made of kale leaves and celery stalks, while the facial details were precisely crafted from carrots, bell peppers, and olives. Two giant nuts, likely coconuts or similar material, completed its image as the park’s “guard.”
Residents, from fascinated children to amused seniors, stopped to admire the creation. “I went for a walk with my grandson and we were amazed! It’s a wonderful idea that brought smiles to everyone’s faces,” declared Elena Popa, a pensioner from the area. “I wonder who had the time and patience to do something like this, and more importantly, why they chose a vegetable squirrel?”
Local Police were informed about the unusual “monument” but did not open an investigation, considering it a harmless and even artistic prank. Park authorities confirmed that the sculpture was not there when the park closed last night, suggesting the anonymous artist worked under the cover of darkness.
Although the creator’s identity remains a mystery, the vegetable squirrel quickly became the day’s attraction in Arad, generating numerous photos and discussions on social media.
